How To Clean Really Dirty Hardwood Floors
Hardwood floors are a beautiful and durable addition to any home, but they can also be difficult to clean, especially if they are very dirty.
If your hardwood floors are looking a little worse for wear, don’t despair. With a little effort, you can get them looking their best again.
Here are a few tips on how to clean really dirty hardwood floors:
- Start by sweeping or vacuuming the floor. This will remove any loose dirt or debris that could scratch the finish.
- Mix a solution of warm water and dish soap. Use about 1/4 cup of dish soap per gallon of water.
- Dip a mop into the solution and wring it out so that it is just damp. Do not use a soaking wet mop, as this could damage the finish.
- Mop the floor in the direction of the wood grain. Be sure to rinse the mop frequently in clean water.
- Once you have mopped the entire floor, dry it with a clean, soft cloth.
